Robinson. She was born October 1, 1911 in Jasper County,
Illinois. Thelma was the daughter of William "Ernest" & Emma Mae (Snider) Tipton. Thelma retired as a teacher from Oblong Grade School in the Oblong School
Dist. in the 1980's. She also taught in Mattoon, IL and Washington Middle School in Robinson, IL. Thelma also worked at Crutchfield's Restaurant Robinson, Crawford Electronics-Robinson. During WWII Thelma worked in an airplane factory in Hammond, Indiana. She was a member of First Baptist Church Oblong for many years. Her hobbies included Gardening,making earrings and other crafts. Thelma loved to go to auctions. Thelma is survived
by a Brother and Sister-in-law William & Betty Tipton; Sister Audrey Wilson; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her Parents; 2 Brothers Ernest
Jr. & infant brother James; 4 Sisters Nina Smith, Wanda Milsap, Wilma Wright and Ada Kathryn Woolsey. Burial will be in White Oak Cemetery north of Oblong, IL. |
